A Little Bit of Inspiration

My studios are on Chincoteague Island, four miles off the mainland of the Delmarva peninsula. Chincoteague Island, with its town center and bustling (when in season) Maddox Boulevard, has its own “vibe”. It’s hard to put into words. Life is just a bit more relaxed here. You can wave to and chat with the people you meet on the street. You can come here and be yourself or re-invent yourself. Everything is always ok on the island.

Chincoteague is protected from the Atlantic Ocean by Assateague Island. I bike out to the less crowded, wild part of the beach. It is to this wild beach of Assateague where I go to see the colors that nature has to offer.

I am an avid reader, and some of my favorite books are the Anne of Green Gables series by Lucy Maude Montgomery. One “Anne” quote (Anne of Ingleside) has followed me my whole life:

β€œIt’s not what the world holds for you, it’s what you bring to it.”

Artistically, how can I not mention the American painter, Jackson Pollock. For more about him, check out this blog posting from MoMA:
